Wine of Rioja

La Rioja is made up of three distinct wine-growing areas: Rioja Alta, Rioja Baja and Rioja Alavesa, which enjoy a continental climate with more temperate temperatures in Rioja Alta and Alavesa thanks to the Cantabria mountain range which slows down the wind Coming from the north, and drier in Rioja Baja. Each of these zones is under the Mediterranean influence of the Ebro that crosses them.

Both have a long wine-growing tradition, which is reflected in a multitude of appellations of origin and characteristics specific to these terroirs.
